Divorce Order Disagreements

Following divorce, ex-spouses might at some point find themselves in a conflict over the terms of the divorce decree or their martial settlement agreement. If a party feels that the other is in default of a term, he or she should always avoid using threatening language to force the other party’s compliance, no matter how flagrant the default may be. Threats of violence can lead to criminal charges and could also be directly in violation of the divorce terms as well. Remember that there is legal recourse, i.e., contacting an attorney about filing a Petition for a Rule to Show Cause, if your ex is refusing to comply with the terms of your divorce, such as child or spousal support.
