Determining Child Custody/Visitation

Courts must base their child custody and visitation determinations on the best interest of the child. There are several statutory factors the court must consider in deciding what arrangement is in the best interest of the child, such as the age and physical and mental condition of each parent, any family abuse history, the role each parent plays in the child’s care and upbringing, the child’s needs are more.
